Book Brings WWI To Life

Book brings WWI to life, an article by Lauren Gregory in the Rome News-Tribune (Rome, Georgia), concerns a lady finding an overlooked genealogy resource. Hazel Ingram found the book, The Georgia State Memorial Book, in her late husband’s closet.

Excerpts from the article:

According to Dorsey’s narrative, it represents not only the first authentic service record of the war in Georgia but also the first of its kind in the country.
….
Its pages are filled with portraits of and information about the servicemen of Georgia who died during the war as well as other photographs and letters chronicling wartime at home and abroad.

“It’s a great resource for someone that’s tracking genealogy, or just the military aspect of it, for Legionnaires who might want to go back to World War I,” Bigham said.
