Judy Fowler Kilgore has written another in her series of “Finding Your Folks” genealogy columns for The Citizen (Fayetteville, GA) . This time it’s Finding Your Folks: The Stamps family of Coweta, Part 2.
A few days ago, Connie Lenzen, writing in The Columbian (Clark County, Washington), wrote an article, Genealogy Today: Citing Internet sources, that reviewed Elizabeth Shown Mills’ “QuickSheet; Citing Online Historical Resources, Evidence! Style.” As more and more people do online genealogy research, this is going to become very important.
Another nice article from Mary Penner, County histories offer genealogical gems, in the The Albuquerque Tribune (NM). She gives a nice summary of what you can find, and some of the story behind these histories.
There’s an article at MarketingSherpa.com, How to Sell Online Subscriptions to (Very Old) Newspaper Archives that some may find interesting from a technical standpoint. It covers how and why The Scotsman (Scotland’s national print newspaper) was able to digitize its archives going back to the early 1800s. Those archives are very interesting and/or important to many genealogists.
