The St. Paul Pioneer Press has published a book review of “Don’t Tell the Girls: A Family Memoir” by Patricia Reilly Giff (Amazon.com $11.53). The book is oriented towards younger children (St. Paul Pioneer Press mentions 8-12 years old) and is really a way to get kids interested in genealogy.
This delightful little book is sprinkled throughout with black and white photos of Giff’s family, inviting the reader deeper into the story. What Giff does with this book is not only tell her personal story, but illustrate how kids can do research on their own families — using the library, asking older family members questions and putting it all into context. This is what makes genealogy worthwhile and exciting.
